Room Refresh on a Budget
When doing a room make-over, It’s always nice to be able to use what we have and not buy everything new. You want to make your room feel a little different, but you don't want to start over. And, you don’t want to break the budget.
Am I right?
Instead, just replace a couple of things. Here, you see a living room. It has kind of a contemporary/coastal look. Now, with a couple of inexpensive changes, let’s look at how we can give it a refresh.
In the photo below, I've only exchanged the rug on the floor. I've added a little pouf for some color and a couple of toss pillows. You can see that it now feels much younger and lighter just by adding those couple of accessories.
You could switch these off in different seasons and store the other ones. Don't throw them away. Just put them out when you’re ready for another refresh.
It's very easy with a few accessories. You have your basic pieces, which I say always to keep neutral so that you can switch other things out. You want to think about that when you buy your bigger, more expensive pieces.
And here are 9 of my best tips for accessorizing. I bet you have things in your home that you can combine by following these tips.
Use odd numbers.
Use the shape of the wall that you're working with.
Use the mountain effect.
Use related items.
Use the unexpected.
Use a pattern of similar picture frames.
Contain one or more items within another item.
Leave a little margin of space around things to give the eye a little breathing room.
Keep the eye looking inward.
