6 Top Bath Trends for 2023
As a professional interior designer, I’m required to stay current with my education. One of the ways I do this is by visiting trade shows. This January, I’ll be attending the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show in Las Vegas (KBIS).
When I return, I’ll be sharing what I learn with you. Did I mention I don’t gamble? This is strictly a labor of love. =0)
Until then, here are some of my takeaways from the recent 2023 Kitchen and Bath Trends Report from the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA).
Top Bath Trends for 2023
It’s not surprising that the following trends seem to stem from our recent pandemic experience and the lifestyle that has developed from that time. We were shut into our homes, and we craved human interaction. We needed to create mental wellness in our homes.
And because of this, we looked for ways to make our homes more tactile, cozy and warm. Textural materials, hand made items, and products from natural materials fit right into the concept of wellness for the home.
If you’re not familiar with the idea of residential wellness, here is an article from my blog called 7 Ways to Bring Wellness into Your Home. In this article, you’ll find a link to my free guide showing products for each of these categories.
Windows and Natural Light
Natural light is a crucial element to any dwelling but often, they are omitted from the bathroom in the home’s design. When possible, open up a wall and add a window in this room. Just imagine how your day will begin with the sunshine beaming in. And the fresh air you gain will add healthy ventilation as well.
Warmer, Natural Earth Tone Colors Mixed With Medium Tone Woods
Solid painted wood cabinetry mixed with rich wood-grains make for a new and beautiful combination. If you love wood as much as I do, you’ll welcome in this new trend.
Sustainable Materials and Products
A love for mother nature inspires our desire to find products that not only preserve the earth but last a lifetime. From plumbing & lighting to appliances and paint, we seek green solutions.
Statement Tubs and Luxury Showers
Does the word “staycation” come to mind for this category? Now more than ever, we want a sanctuary home. One where we can relax and find joy. What used to be considered a luxury; free standing bathtubs and waterfall showers and heated floors for instance, are becoming the norm.
The Importance of Clean and Sanitary Surroundings
While we are at home more of the time, it becomes necessary to clean more often. Easy-to-clean surfaces such as countertops and flooring are a must. Using large format materials will reduce the grout lines and can help to accomplish this goal.
Smart Technology
So many products for the bath now offer smart technology. From showers to bidets, and vanities, we have a myriad of products to choose from. Technology makes our lives easier and more convenient and can also aide in saving water and power usage. In the end, the our total home experience will be elevated.
